Ondo fire: police attribute fire outbreak at INEC office to electrical fault

The Ondo state police command have attributed the cause of the fire outbreak at the INEC headquarters in Akure to faulty electrical appliances.


The fire incident which happened in the computer section of the INEC last Thursday evening,  destroyed over 5000 card readers meant to be used for October 10 governorship election in the state.

Briefing newsmen in Akure, the state capital, the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Bolaji Salami disclosed that the outcome of an investigation carried out by federal fire service showed that an electrical surge from the air conditioner inside the containers housing the card readers led to the inferno.
