Nollywood actor Victor Olaotan dies after prolonged illness

Veteran Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan died on Thursday 26 of August, 2021 after a long illness.

The saddening story was revealed to newsmen today by his wife who confirmed that he has been battling with the illness for almost three years.

The prolonged illness was caused by the accident Victor Olaotan had in 2016 around Apple Junction, in Festac, Lagos while driving to a movie set .

Mrs Olaotan expressed sorrowful joy at the demise of her husband as she believed he can finally rest after suffering and battling with disease for years.

“He has tried. It’s not easy to be trapped in your own body for five years. He can finally rest now” she said.

Recalled that the late actor was recently flown back to Nigeria due to paucity of funds at financing his health bills at the Turkish hospital.

Although in 2018 they had requested for financial aid to facilitate his treatments outside the country after two years of being financially handicapped making billionaire Femi Otedola helped with the sim of thirty Nine million Naira.

“The major challenge is financial and that has been a struggle. We have come out occasionally to ask for funds and we are not ignorant to the fact that there are challenges. With the COVID pandemic, everybody has been affected, locally and internationally. But I have bills to pay. His hospital is $7,500 a month, and the main reason he is there, I actually haven’t done it, is to get his procedure done. We have done the first stage of the procedure, it was that first phase that Mr Otedola paid for.”

She further revealed that the hospital has sent her some documents threatening to take legal actions against her if her bills were not paid.

Some of the movies Olaotan featured in includes; “Love Struck”, “Three wise men” working alongside Richard Mofe-Damijo and Zara Orji.
