The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has handed over the 19 year old candidate at the just concluded examination and results which was conducted and released by the agency to the Police.
According to the board Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede while speaking with journalists at the JAMB’S headquarters in Abuja, the candidate, Chinedu John has tampered with result as evidence has shown that he scored 265 contradicting the the 360 score claimed by the candidate.
The candidate’s father John Ifenkpam had approached a lawyer, Ikeazor Akaiwe who wrote to jamb on behalf of John requesting to retake examination and demanding N1 billion as damages.
The lawyer noted that the money was to cover for the physical and emotional trauma the boy passed through for sending him two separate scores.
The candidate had claimed that his jamb scores from 2019 till 2921 had been altered by the board therefore denying him the opportunity to study Medicine.
The candidate, his father and lawyer were invited to headquarter office by the management of the board yesterday.
After a long conversation between the parties, the board presented a documentary evidence showing that John actually scored 265 and not 380 as he claimed.
Oloyede has now accused the candidate of alteration adding that he will be handed over to the police for investigation and subsequently prosecuted.
The registrar further claimed that John was among 11 other candidates who allegedly forged their results and would be prosecuted.
Although his lawyer has appealed to the board to instead give room for further investigation.
“I will not stand against investigation. Let there be investigation but what I will not agree to is to prejudge him,” he said.
Earlier, John had said, “The result I have been receiving is not the result I am entitled to. I wrote the first JAMB in 2019.
“The first time, they sent 328 and later, I saw 278 when I checked it. I printed it. I couldn’t meet up for admission that year. I wanted to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan.
“In 2020, the same thing happened. I scored 343, but by the time I went to the portal to print, I saw 306. I used the 306 and it gave me admission in UI. But because I didn’t have Further Mathematics, I had to forfeit it.
“I decided to leave Medicine and Surgery for them in 2021 so I picked Petroleum Engineering. In 2021, JAMB issued me two results. I saw 380 the first time I checked and then the second time, I saw 265.”
Meanwhile, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Fabian Benjamin claimed the candidate confessed to the crime
