House of Assembly advise protesters

The Senate President Dr Ahmad Lawan has advised the Endsars protesters to go home and give the government time for appropriate implementation of the newly announcement of SWAT a new born unit of the Nigeria police.

Dr Ahmad who led all the principal officers into the chambers at today’s plenary made this known at the sitting saying “SARS have been disbanded I believe that once protesters demands are met I think it is patriotic for them to go home and give government time for implementation”. He further pledged that the government including the national assembly will ensure that the demands of the protesters are implemented as soon as possible.

For the first time, Financial Privacy Bill, 2020 (SB.508) by Senator Rochas Okorocha, Federal Republic of Nigeria (Alteration) Bill,2020(SB.530) by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, Federal College of Education Act 1998(Repeal and Re-enactment ) Bill,2020(SB.431) by Senator Babba Kaita Ahmed, Labour transportation Bill,2020(SB.532) by Senator Jibrin Barau has been read.

Also at the plenary, the house of assembly has confirmed the nomination of Nasir Isa Kwaraa as the chairman of National Population Commission and Ibrahim Mohammed, Ajayi Ayodeji Sunday, Hon. Joseph Kwali Stephen, Garba A.G Zakar k/Hausa, Hon. Engr Bala Almu Banye, Gidado Razaq Folorunso, Mr Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Ali Silas Agara, Chiso A. Dottoji, Mai Aliyu Mohammed, Muhammed Muttaka Rini were confirmed as Commissioners.

The Senate President advised the appointees to be focused because Nigeria bis due for census as it will aid in planning for national development.
