EndSwat: Ondo youths lockdown cities

Cities in Ondo State such as; Akure and Ondo was locked down by the youths as movement of cars, bikes and trucks carrying goods were not allowed to pass the roads.

The youths who blocked the major roads that serve as entrance into the city are consistent about fighting for the abolition of SWAT a new born unit of the Nigerian Police Force.

While speaking with reporter, Mayor Oluwafemi Osunleti an advocate of good governance and one of the youth leaders organizing in Ondo town said the demonstration is an avenue to demand solution to problems and for good governance.

“Its a continuation of the demand for governance, adequate security, creation of and youth empowerment…” He stated.

He further reacted to the government’s negligence and force to stop protesters by noting that the youths will never retreat nor surrender.

It was also gathered that 80% of Ondo youths participated and intend to stay on the road overnight as food were supplied to the protesters on ground. In Akure, the youths blocked Ilesha garrage and the Ondo youths blocked the Akure roundabout. Mayor Oluwafemi advised the youths to demonstrate and demand responsibly.
