Effiong sues Lai Muhammed, Malami for suspending Twitter

Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has sued the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), as well as the Federal Government for suspending Twitter.

who asked the court to declare the act as illegal because suspending Twitter in Nigeria without written law is undemocratic and amounts to violation of human rights. He further noted that the freedom of expression,reception and impartation of idea/information as stated in Section 39 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) has been tampered with.

The human right activist also stated that he uses Twitter to express his opinion/view on the failure and inadequacies of the government.
