Grammy award winning Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burnaboy again set up another Black Entertainment Television, BET award hat-trick records as he becomes the only African artistes to win same category three times in a row.
Burna Boy this year, just completed and emerged as three BET Best International Act winner,also first African artist to be nominated for a BET award 3 years back to back and win each time.
This he made at the just concluded 21st annual BET awards last night tagged “Year of the black woman” hosted by award winning actress Taraji P. Henson at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles which was attended by live audience.
Although he was nominated alongside Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun who has also won it three times after being nominated four times. Others in the same category are; Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Emicida from Brazil, Headie one from United Kingdom and few others you’ll find below in the full list.
Taraji who opened the award show meant to celebrate the black women said
“Celebrating Black women isn’t a fad or a trend it’s a forever mood” Henson said, opening up the show. “There is more than enough room for all of us to thrive, because can’t nobody be like me and can’t nobody be you like you.”
Rap legend DMX, who died from a heart attack earlier this year, was honored at the ceremony with a special tribute performance from Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Swizz Beatz and Michael K. Williams.
